Jojo Siwa has spoken about what her life has been like ever since she came out as gay.

The 18-year-old Youtuber has had a rollercoaster ride when it comes to her personal and professional life. She made history by being the first person ever to have a same-sex partner on the TV show ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
And her performances with professional dancer Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy have been resonating with the public. So much so that she has now become an iconic figure.
During an interview on the ‘Ellen Degeneres show’ Jojo said: “It’s wild to me, I think because I look at people who are called gay icons – you, Lady Gaga, Freddie Mercury, my favourite people – and to be in that category, at 18, is just insane.
“It’s just because of who I am. It feels amazing.” And yet, Jojo had to consider the full impact of what was going to happen when she made the decision to reveal that she was a lesbian.
This is something that Ellen was very aware of, too, given that she had a mixed response to her revelation that she was also gay. That immediately came to the fore when Jojo was deciding whether to go ahead with ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
After all, she had the monumental task of either pairing up with a male partner or going ahead with what she believed in. Given what we know now, she had no regrets over the decision that she had made.
She added: “Immediately, when I got the email to do it, I was like, “Oh awesome… oh I’m gonna have to dance with a dude, that’s gonna be weird…’
“Immediately, without thinking twice, I was like, “This is what’s right for me.” I am so happy with the outcome.”
Her dance partner Jenna has also been impressed with Jojo. She admitted that she took away a lot of lessons from her which made her realise just how courageous people can be.
Jenna stated: “Meeting JoJo, and just the courage that she has, gave me so much strength, and I just have never looked back.”
