Christopher Biggins has heavily criticised DC Comics for their decision to showcase Superman as a bisexual man.

The actor did not hold back on his disapproval of this move. In the new issue, we can expect Superman to start a new relationship with a man and displace the ever-so-popular Lois Lane, who had graced the comic franchise for so long.

While Christopher is gay himself, his stance on the move was anything but supportive. In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Christopher said: “If you want to do something like this, do something original.

“Don’t take characters that already exist and make them into something they’re not.” The primary reason why Christopher feels like this is because he sees the decision as a way of trying to reconcile people’s opinions in modern society.

But in doing so, it is appealing to populism for fear that anything else would create huge backlash. And given that we are living in a cancel culture period, any strong opinions that differ against the norm may not be received very well.

He added: “I think it’s important that we continue to do that and not pander to the woke system.” The reaction on social media was not in favour of Christopher.

A certain subset of fans criticised him for failing to have a progressive attitude and not moving with the times. They felt that this move would have encouraged diversity and helped others to see different opinions as normal.

And yet, Christopher was left bemused by the whole thing. He continued: “I do find it absolutely bizarre that this is what people want nowadays.

“If you want to do something like this, do something original, don’t take characters that already exist and make them into something they’re not.”

Despite Christopher’s views, this is nothing new. DC has a history of introducing LGBTQ characters. Some of these include Batwoman and Aquaman.

Regardless of what you may think, it is clear that this is something that DC will be looking to do more of in the future going forward. But whether it ends up being a success is anyone’s guess.
