In a new interview with Soaps in Depth, the blonde beauty credits ‘The Young and the Restless’ co-creator William J. Bell for the couple’s longevity and even their popularity to this very day. “He wrote the Newman family by first introducing Victor and Nikki, and then he wrote who their legacy children would be,” the actress told the publication in a new interview. “When Sharon was brought in, it was Bill’s intention to write them as a younger Victor and Nikki.”
“Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman) and I started working here at around the same time,” she continued, “but a lot of groundwork went into building up the characters and their relationship, and it’s still visible today. It’s why fans are still interested in them after all these years!”
And while Sharon might be with Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) right now and Nick is with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), you just never know when the stars are going to align for these two again. Needless to say, The Young and the Restless fans will just have to tune in for all of the drama and action!
