‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers tells that, apparently there is a tradition in the Plath family of working at this one auto parts store in town, and Lydia has decided to keep it up. I’m guessing it started with Ethan (can’t imagine Hosanna doing these things) and went to probably Micah, I think Moriah had probably moved out by the time her time would have rolled around, and now the tradition has fallen to Lydia.
Unless the guy goes out of business it will be Isaac’s turn next, unless he goes straight from high school into the military. Which, could be a thing, since he’s expressed such interest in flying planes.
‘Welcome to Plathville’: Lydia’s new job?
Today was Lydia’s turn, now she is driving and she was driving by herself and wearing jeans, which, while still modest was a decidedly more updated look than the ones that she had been wearing in previous seasons. Lydia, it seemed, kept to the ‘modest is hottest’ dress code for the first two seasons, but I suppose going to work at an autoshop you have to dress for the occassion and a t-shirt and jeans seemed fitting for this kind of interview.
The owner of the shop said that he had known the Plaths for about nine years and that he was familiar with the parents and kept a cheat sheet in his wallet for all the kid… seriously, no judgement here, nine is a lot to remember when they’re not your own.
We also finally got some clue as to why Lydia wanted to talk to Ethan so badly. Apparently, when he lived back on the farm and came to visit regularly she would help him fix cars! So that’s why she wanted to talk to him about things, she wanted to know all of his tips and tricks for fixing cars.
That’s actually a really sweet thing and here’s hoping that somehow Lydia can rebuild that bond she had with Ethan, but when he saw her in the autoshop, there was no running to hug her, just a half-hearted “Hey”.
It seems that Ethan doesn’t know whether to trust her or not, and it’s safe to assume, being in that close a proximity with their parents might cause some tension between the two. I do think that Lydia’s intentions are pure, but Ethan’s judgement may be clouded by his own anger right now… we’ll see. Stay tuned!!!
