You’d think that this would be the very first thing he would do, seeing how the royal family is so keen about keeping up with traditions. But unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Thomas Markle Sr. says that he is disappointed in his son-in-law Prince Harry for not asking for his “daughter’s hand in marriage” before he proposed to Meghan Markle in 2017. Here’s what you need to know.
Speaking to Dan Wootton on GB News, Thomas says that he is disappointed in the Duke of Sussex for never reaching out to him or at least putting in an effort to get to know him and also blames him for all of the drama between him and his daughter.
Thomas Markle Slams Prince Harry For Not Asking Him This Very Important Question
“I’m blaming Harry for this mostly,” Thomas said. “Harry has this saying: If you look at the paparazzi, you’re done. “I’m surprised Harry never bothered to come and visit me, or ask for my daughter’s hand in marriage.”
Thomas also said that the last time he’s spoken to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was when he was in the hospital, right before their wedding in 2018, and after he agreed to take staged paparazzi shots with a photographer.
He recalled, “I was lying in hospital, talking to them from hospital, telling them I couldn’t come to the wedding and they haven’t talked to me since. You’re a parent and your child’s in hospital, wouldn’t you be concerned if they live or die? They don’t answer or respond in any way shape of form.”
If that weren’t enough, Thomas also said that the reason why Meghan has changed is because she’s now influenced by Prince Harry.
He added: “She’s [Meghan] changed, she’s not the daughter I knew. My daughter was a much more loving person than she is now.”
So far Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not responded to Thomas’ comments.
