‘The Bachelorette’ season 17 debuted last night with 29 men all eager to win Instagram endorsements Katie Thurston’s affections. However, it was revealed during the season preview that not everyone of Katie’s suitors has yet arrived.
Boombox in hand, Blake Moynes—who first joined Bachelor Nation during the double-header season 16 of the Bachelorette—took a queue from the 80’s classic Say Anything. Just like hero of the film John Cusack, Blake stands below Katie’s balcony to blast a song, and hope to be invited into the group of men she has whittled down to 23.
‘The Bachelorette’ Spoilers: Blake Moynes Tries to John Cusack His Way into Katie’s Season
Of course, the existing men take the late arrival on the chin and do not get territorial over a woman they met only days earlier at all…said no Bachelor commentator ever.
In a side, audiences watched Blake gush to the camera that he want’s to be a part of this new season as he thinks “Katie could be the one”. This could sound oh so romantic, had Katie and Blake literally shared only one, generic DM prior to his arrival.
It also doesn’t bode well for Blake that he admitted to falling for both Clare Crawley and her replacement Tayshia Adams during season 16. Oh, and speaking of Tayshia- she just happens to be there, hosting this season (and maybe future seasons now that Chris Harrison has parted ways with Bachelor Nation).
It’s not certain if Katie allows Blake into the group, though some spoilers have said he makes it quite far…these are not the most reliable of sources, though.
These same sources claims that Blake and Brendan, the 26 year old fireman from Toronto we met on Monday night as he introduced himself to Katie, know each other from back in Canada.
This could be true, it wouldn’t be the first time buddies have back-to-backed it (here’s looking at you Tyler Cameron and Matt James). Or that rumor could be an “oh, I’ve got a cousin in Canada, maybe you know him” kind of thing.
Hey, perhaps co-host Kaitlyn Bristowe knows Blake and Brendan too- she’s a proud Canuck after all!
The Bachelorette airs on ABC Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
