Lately, a lot of people have been complaining about how hard Meghan McCain has been going on The View. It’s not really her political viewpoints that make people not be able to stand her, rather, it’s the way she expresses herself. At one point, she even made her own Mom Cindy McCain cringe, and her Mom admitted as such in an interview with Watch What Happen Live’s Andy Cohen.
Meghan, in a recent statement about Marjorie Taylor Green was trying to talk about the rampant anti-semitism in the Republican Party and while no one was denying it, she brought it up at the wrong time, when they were about to go to commercial, having to make co-host Whoopi Goldberg call her down.
This is what made her Mom, Cindy, cringe.
The fact that she had to be called down by her co-host because, in essence, she was being rude. Yes, she was trying to make a point but she was also being excessively rude and pushy while doing so. However, I think Meghan McCain may be the product of the way a lot of GOP party members actually debate things, and not the product of actual civil conversation.
If you’ve been around online you can always tell a GOP member by how much they ‘sea lion’ people, it’s a technique that is usually adopted by the loudest, pushiest, most vocal members of the party. Does it get them respected? No, does it make their viewpoints heard? Yes.
Meghan McCain may know how to debate respectfully, but the ‘sea-lion’ debate style has been popularized by Fox News. If you’ve ever watched Fox News for more than 2 minutes, you’ll notice that all of their guests are very loud and have a tendency to obnoxiously talk over one another. (It’s sort of the same reason that you opt out of holidays with Aunt Karen and Uncle Chad nowadays because everything seems to escalate into yelling for no reason and ends with a salute to the American flag.)
This ‘debate style’ has spilled over into every day life for a lot of people because ever since 9/11 and the whole bandwagon patriot movement us Americans have forgotten how to be gracious, because everything, and I do mean everything is William Wallace style fight for freedom!

It’s said that Meghan has fallen into this trap, because I’m pretty sure that she can be a completely respectful person when not trying to talk over the obnoxious jerks in the GOP. We’ll say that she temporarily forgot where she was, because this isn’t the senate floor, it was a TV studio.
However, maybe Meghan forgot just which network she was filming for, even thugh ABC is a far cry from the sound stage of the depths of Rupert Murdoch’s soul. Hopefully, one day Meghan and the rest of the country will grow out of this loud, obnoxious way of getting their point across, because it doesn’t make people care more, and it builds a lot of resentment. Good luck outgrowing this nasty habit, Meghan. Stay tuned!!!
