Japanese movies are known for their action and bravado. But on some occasions, their films have failed to live up to the hype. Here are some of the Japanese movies you should avoid.

The movie is based on two sisters, who try to outwit each other. Yoshie is often under the shadow of her elder sister, Kikue. But their hostility towards each other changes, when they are kidnapped by the head of an evil assassin leader, Kageno. They are given the role of becoming assassins. This time, Yoshie excels beyond her sister, much to Kikue’s annoyance. Will they end up turning on each other?

The movie was generally not well received due to the poor visual effects and action sequences that were often exaggerated.

Will she find them and get her justice?

The action scenes were not well-put-together, and the pacing of the movie was disjointed.

Cast: Minase Yashiro, Asami, Nobuhiro Nishihara, Kentaro Shimazu

    Release Date: 23 May 2008

    One Missed Call 2003

A college student, Yoko Okazaki, receives a voicemail in which she can hear herself screaming, and the message is dated two days later. As the voicemail’s actual timing transpires into reality, Yoko is shockingly killed as she is pushed off a bridge and onto an oncoming train.

The film was criticised for being too similar to other movies such as Scream and Final Destination.

Cast: Shannyn Sossamon, Edward Burns, Ana Claudia Talancon, Ray Wise

    Release Date: 4 April 2008

    Tokyo Gore Police 2008

This comes to the attention of the Tokyo Police, who have decided they must act in order to maintain law and order. In a battle between the machines and the police, who will triumph? And what will the cost be?

The film received a mixed review as some praised the bizarre plot, whereas others felt it was weak on character development.
