Lynne Spears, who is the mother of Britney Spears, has rejected accusations that she called Columbus Short, the N-word, during her daughter’s time with him.

In an interview with Page Six, she vehemently denied the allegations. She said: “I want to be very clear. Those terrible words are not remotely in my vocabulary. I would never say that to anyone, much less, my daughter. Ever.” So where did all these rumours start from? Well, they came from the man himself. In his autobiography entitled Short Stories, he dropped the circumstances surrounding the allegation.

He alleged that Lynne or Britney’s dad, Jamie Spears, might have made the comments. And quite frankly, they were precise. He wrote: “I was next to [Britney] while she was on the phone with them crying while she had it on speaker. Why are you f–king that n–ger? [Britney looked] so apologetically, knowing I’d heard it. I shook my head and didn’t say anything because what was there to say?”

Jamie, however, has not responded to these claims, with sources confirming that he is looking to distance himself from any controversy. After all, he has just been through the conservatorship battle with Britney. A source said: “During that time period, he was not involved in Britney’s business. He wasn’t there; he wasn’t working with her. He knew nothing about this. He’s a very religious guy and would not speak like that.”

Columbus, for his part, revealed that when it occurred, he was not surprised. Rather, he took it as a signal to fully understand who he was surrounding himself with. During an interview with Inside Hollywood, he said: “I wasn’t shocked when it happened. Look where they’re from. They’re from Louisiana. The way it came out was so effortless. Like, that’s how they speak. I wasn’t shocked, and I wasn’t hurt by it.

“I was just like, ‘Wow, this is … OK … I know who I am around here.” As for Britney, he has no hard feelings: I love Britney to this day. I feel bad for her. I wish the world knew the Britney I knew.” We will have to see whether Britney will comment on these allegations.
