Many fans of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way are curious why Sumit Singh is so close with his parents. Sumit and his parents are close for many reasons, but he has been opening up more about the death of his sister. It seems that his mother was very close to her and her death hit her incredibly hard. His relationship with his mother has been a bit bumpy lately and for good reason.
He continues to date a woman who his parents do not approve of and they really are curious as to why he keeps stringing her along. (So are we.) When Sumit was younger, he did have a sister, who was a year and a half younger than him. She died when she was eight months old and this is where the resentment from his mother comes from.

As Sumit and his mother continue to fight over his relationship with Jenny Slatten, more and more family drama keeps coming out. His mother has threatened suicide before when he told her that he was marrying Jenny Slatten and nothing could stop him, his mother threatened suicide, in quite a dramatic turn of events.
Even though his parents do not want him to marry Jenny, they are still engaged and keep pushing the issue of getting married. Jenny is not welcome at any family celebrations and they look at her as if she isn’t even part of their son’s life.
Sumit told cameras that his mother really misses her daughter and this has been very painful for her ever since it happened. This isn’t something that she has ever gotten over. Her daughter had jaundice and that is what took her life.
Sumit explains more, “She feels like I divorced my first wife and snatched her happiness. My mother blamed me for losing another daughter when I got divorced. Sometimes it makes me feel like my mother is taking revenge. Like, she is mad at me because she’s not happy she lost a girl she had a connection with. So maybe this explains that’s why my mom don’t like Jenny because she like, considers Jenny as like one who helped me in order to get divorced.”
He went on to say, “I keep on trying as much as I can. After all that, after I feel like I’ve put in all the effort to convince them and show them how happy I am with Jenny and that’s what I want in my life, after that if they don’t understand then, no point in that, I think I will go ahead and marry Jenny.”
