On The Last Resort, several struggling couples on the brink of breaking up seek therapy to save their relationships. However, there has been a lot of controversy over the legitimacy of the featured therapists. For example, sex “therapist” Reba Corrine Thomas was exposed for allegedly not being licensed. She was instead a sex educator and self-proclaimed entertainer.
Since Reba’s exposure, fans have been skeptical about the show actually helping the couples. Many of the pairs don’t seem to be improving in their relationships. A lot of the therapy sessions also look more like ways to cause more drama for the cameras. Now, it looks like another “therapist” has been caught under fire for not being legitimate after all.
A Fan Exposes Sarah Malone
Reddit user u/Various-Builder5355 posts about an Instagram DM that they allegedly received from Last Resort therapist, Sarah Malone. According to the user, after posting about their cancer diagnosis, Sarah reached out to them. The post is captioned, “We grew up together…someone told me she was now a “therapist” on this show. I can promise she has no formal training and she’s a horrible person…” The user claims to have contracted “celiac disease” due to Sarah’s malpractice. “I hope no one goes to her for actual medical advice.”
In the screenshots that the user shares, there is a long message sent by Sarah referring to the user’s cancer. Here, Sarah refers to the cancer as “just parasites.” Here, Sarah recommends an ivermectin treatment to “wipe out” the cancer. However, this ends up with the user contracting celiac disease. “…curing Celiac disease happens when you heal the emotional cause of the disease.” Sarah also tells the user that they are “indoctrinated into the mindset of medicine and pharmaceuticals” and are telling them advice that doctors “don’t want people to know.”
What the Alleged Messages From Sarah Malone Mean
If the messages between the Reddit user and Sarah Malone are true, then it is a disgusting display of malpractice and ignorance. Sarah was already under some fire in the fanbase for supposedly “hypnotizing” the cast. Many fans thought that the show was straying further and further away from the original therapy concept and making a joke of itself. Combine Sarah’s use of pseudoscience with these messages and it’s a ridiculous mess altogether.
The majority of the comments are incredibly negative towards Sarah. Some fans considered her behavior and practices on the show strange. “I could tell immediately on the show that she has no training and must be a terrible therapist because of the way she talks to people and the activities she conducts,” says u/gigiandthepip. Others noticed how Sarah seemed “full of herself” or “rude” during her segments.
Overall, the messages between the Reddit user and Sarah look to be very believable. While Sarah has not responded to the accusations yet, it’s clear that she didn’t have a good reputation to begin with. Many fans disagreed with her practices and thought she had a rude and uncomfortable personality. Whether she’ll even dare to respond in the first place is left to be seen.
