’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers indicate this may have been partially what drove Deavan and Jihoon apart. Deavan said that in South Korea it had, at one point, gotten really bad. They were on complete lockdown and no one was doing anything anywhere.
No one was outside, no one was doing anything, Deavan said that this was the quiest she had ever seen South Korea. Honestly it was a little scary and dystopian looking at a bustling place like South Korea be completely shut down and devoid of life everywhere. It kind of reminded me of that Supernatural episode where everyone got infected with the Croatoan virus. (Oooh betcha can’t watch that anymore without getting some chills.)
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Quarantine in South Korea
We saw Jihoon playing dolls with Drasilla, he said that Drasilla wanted to go outside and play and was sad because she couldn’t. He said he was sad too because he wasn’t allowed to go out and do anything either. The thing is, South Korea has less rural spaces and more industrial spaces and at least in my experience have a far more social, face to face culture than we do in the US.
In the US it’s specific areas that have this culture more than others, but by and large us Americans are content to stay inside and stay away from each other (except for a specific subset that have appeared now that we’re being forced to wear masks – funny how wearing a mask makes someones true colors shine through.), Korean culture, especially nightlife, is rooted in their work culture.
Often, Koreans will go out and drink after work. Not really out of personal choice, but rather out of social obligation. Often, they are expected to go out and socialize with their boss and co-workers even when they would really rather not. But I don’t think that this was a culmination of lack of socialization.
Deavan said that quarantine had made them fight so much that Jihoon spent the majority of his time in his room playing video games (which kind of flies directly in the face of the fact that he was playing with Drasilla a few moments before, but perhaps that was just for the camera). Drasilla looked eager to get out of there, she said “You gotta go on the airplane, hurry!”
Jihoon made Deavan promise to come back, Deavan made Jihoon promise that things were going to get better between them but ultimately, she made the decision to go back to the US during the pandemic. We all know how this story ends, Deavan and Jihoon ended up breaking up after all, there was no happy ending for this couple.
I think Jihoon knew that the relationship was done the second she left the airport. He said he was worried that she wouldn’t come back… she didn’t, can’t say we are surprised. Stay tuned!!!
