I believe that 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star Vanja Grbic is the common denominator in both of her failed relationships on the show. Vanja appeared in season 7 dating Božo Vrdoljak and then Josko Luketin right after. Božo would confess not having feelings for Vanja when meeting in person. Meanwhile, Vanja and Josko had sparks fly after just two dates together. However, things would turn bad when Josko breaks up with Vanja over being “clingy” and having a lack of “motherly instincts.”
During the Tell All, the cast members and host were all on Vanja’s side. They felt horrible for her and felt that the two men took Vanja’s heart for granted. Josko even broke Vanja’s trust by recording her while intimate together without consent. Despite all of the red flags and broken trust, Vanja still decided to fly back to Croatia in search of rekindling things with Josko. This was the red flag that made me realize the real problem with Vanja.
Vanja is Desperate
Vanja’s decision to return to Croatia in search of Josko reeks of desperation. She had just gotten her trust ripped apart in an incredibly disgusting way. Despite preaching self-respect to co-stars like Tigerlily, she pulls a 180 when it comes to herself. She also did the same with Božo when he ghosted her for his ex!
This is just one of the examples of Vanja’s desperation for love. As talked about in the past, she speedruns her relationships at lightning speeds. Vanja willingly puts red flags aside as a means for a person to potentially be her soulmate. She refused to question the idea of Božo either not being into her, or using her as a rebound online. Instead, Vanja pushes for Božo to try a relationship and affection with her despite not feeling anything. If genders were switched, Vanja would’ve been the villain of the storyline.
Vanja & Josko’s Terrible Love Bombing
Vanja has a habit of moving quickly into believing that someone is her soulmate. This happened with Josko. Many fans believe that Josko love bombed Vanja (which he certainly did), but Vanja did the same back. They both immediately believed to be each other’s “one.” Josko even went as far as to proclaim Vanja as a step-mother for his son who she hadn’t met. The whole situation was just pure insanity.
It shouldn’t really be a shock that Josko quickly backed out of the relationship as quickly as he committed. He called Vanja clingy for wanting to keep communication after being silent for one day. This was due to being busy with his son, and yet Vanja never considered that. It’s clear that she did not foresee herself as a mother to the child. This alone makes the relationship a dumpster fire from the start.
Vanja is Emotionally Immature Relationship-Wise
During the Tell All, Vanja openly states how her relationships always go without recognizing why. She states over and over how she gives so much in relationships only for them to end in her feelings going unreciprocated. Brian Muniz then tries to give the advice she needs to hear. “Then you need to ask yourself why…in the end we have to look at the choices we make…” However, Vanja completely denies this, putting the entire blame on her exes. Vanja is a positive and kindhearted woman, but she will continue to experience these failed relationships because she’s the one who chooses these men.
