Once upon a time ‘90 Day Fiancé’ was all about international couples in love, with many hills to climb so they could marry and stay together in the USA.
And then TLC audiences met Mark Shoemaker from Maryland and Nikki Mediano Shoemaker from Cebu City, Philippines.
90 Day Fiancé has showcased a fair share of May-December romances, but the ick factor of the 39 year age difference between a then 58-year-old Mark and a teenaged Nikki was only eclipsed by the fact that Nikki was younger than Mark’s four children.

Oh, and then the was his uber controlling behavior, attempts to sue TLC for giving him a bad edit and the fact that no one has heard from he or Nikki since.

That is, until news broke of the couple divorcing after 6 years of marriage.
Even then, Mark tried unsuccessfully to seal the divorce documents, but the news travelled fast. At first, the grounds for divorce were unknown, but In Touch magazine quickly got to the bottom of it.
The publication obtained the divorce fillings and discovered that under the section for “grounds for divorce,” the unpopular TLC alum had checked the box for “Adultery — my spouse committed adultery.”
In a following section, Mark checked off, “For these reasons, I request an absolute divorce.”
It was well documented on season 3 of 90 Day Fiancé that the pair had a prenuptial agreement and this, too, was indicated in the divorce papers.
It may have taken In Touch’s investigative team quite some time to sift through all of Mark’s court docs. A reddit user decided to take Mark’s daughter, Elise’s lead when she casually mentioned, “Fun fact, you can, in Maryland, legally look up the Maryland judiciary case search.”
The Redditor explained that there were no less than 48 cases that Mark has been involved in- usually as the plaintiff.
“Damn Mark must love to be petty in court!” they wrote.
Elise, who was 20 years old (one year her new stepmother’s senior) when she was seen on 90 Day Fiancé with her dad and Nikki has been the only contact 90 Day fans have had to the notoriously controlling private Mark.
However, Elise has estranged herself from her father in recent years. This didn’t stop her from commenting on the divorce news with dripping sarcasm saying, “I’m so shocked. I’m absolutely shocked. They seem so happy together.”
So far 90 Day fans have been celebrating the news of the divorce, we can only imagine how much louder the cheers will get when they discover Nikki wasn’t as controlled as it seemed…that’s if Mark is telling the truth about the cheating. Fingers Crossed!
