In the newest episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Jen Boecher and Rishi Singh are going through some interesting times in their relationship. Jen wants him to tell his family that they are engaged, but he thinks that it isn’t a good idea as of yet.
With that being said, Rishi wants to introduce Jen to the ways of Indian housewives. He takes her to visit another Indian family so that she can learn all of the customs and duties. After this, she isn’t too sure that this is the lifestyle for her.

When Jen finds out that the Indian housewives must wake up before anyone else to make tea for the entire family, she is less than thrilled. Jen is unsure that she can do this every day for Rishi. She asks the woman, “Does your husband ever wake up early and make chai for you?”

The woman said, “No no no. Never. In our Indian culture, men don’t do this kind of work. Because it’s an ancestral practice that has been going on for many years, we can’t change that. So, it’s like, women cook, serve food to men, and we can eat after they do. We can’t eat before they eat.”
The woman asks Jen if she is ready to take on this type of role with Rishi and Jen isn’t quite sure. “It’s very hard to determine how that will work because, right now, nothing is for sure.” Then she told the cameras, “I am feeling a little overwhelmed right now because this is not how I expected my life to be after marrying Rishi.”
She then added, “While I respect these women and their traditions- and I’m not gonna be rude in their home- I’m not sure that serving Rishi’s family is the life for me. I don’t have two master’s degrees so I can go be a maid for your family, I’m sorry. If that’s who he thinks I am, he doesn’t know me at all. This makes me question our whole relationship.”
Who knows if things will work out for Jen and Rishi in this relationship? These cultural differences may end up getting the best of them. If they can’t see eye to eye it may end before we know it.
