’90 Day Fiancé’ alums Paola and Russ Mayfield have been navigating a bumpy marriage of late. Recently Paola opened up to Entertainment Tonight to explain why things aren’t working with the couple…oh, and she blames us: the 90 Day fans. Well, in part.
“Russ and I’s [sic] relationship has always had ups and downs,” the Colombian native began. ” I feel like we have so many things to work on and we’re trying. We’re trying. We’re doing what we can to stay together and to make it work for our son, but sometimes it is really hard.”

The couple, who share 2 year old, Axel have been spending time apart, as confirmed by Paola earlier this year in a tweet that read, “People asked me why I don’t take pictures with my husband, and my answer is… I just don’t like to pretend. #youareguessingright.”
Paola is now elaborating on the issues in the marriage. First and foremost she described it as being “really hard to have a relationship in the spotlight. No matter what you do, people are always questioning and attacking you.”
She further divulged she feels that if she and Russ were to divorce, she would be the one to shoulder the backlash from the 90 Day fans. “People always think that it’s my fault, everything, and nothing that anyone could blame on Russ.”
She went on to say that even though the two are still married, their union is currently far more for the sake of their son than for each other and that the reality-turned-wrestling star has reached her “breaking point” when it comes to her husband.
The mom-of-one attests that she has always set out to protect Russ’ image but that “he keeps messing up. He drives me insane because I do try and it’s just a lot and I’ve been trying my best.”
Pao further blames monotony and Russ’ complacency in the relationship as why she is now “tired of trying. It’s exhausting.”
It definitely sounds like 90 Day fans should not expect to see Russ and Pao on any upcoming seasons of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, anytime soon. 90 Day: The Single Life, however? That is looking, unfortunately far more likely
“If you ask me today, I’m very not optimistic,” Paolo said of her future of her 8 year marriage.
