Former 90 Day Fiancé cast member, Geoffrey Paschel has been involved in many crimes and he is now serving time in prison for domestic violence charges. We saw him on the show with his fiancé, Varya Malina. He went to visit her in Russia and then he proposed to her.
The couple had a lot of ups and downs and at the end of it all, Varya came back to the man that she loved and she pledged to stay with him no matter what and we have seen this now that he is serving time in prison.
90 Day Fiancé: Geoffrey Paschel Ditches His Defense Attorney as He Faces More Jail Time
In February of this year, Paschel was convicted of domestic assault, interference with an emergency call, and aggravated kidnapping. The court ended up convicting him and giving him 18 years in prison without the possibility of parole. As he sits in prison, he is currently working on an autobiography as well. Varya has come to visit him many times and she still feels that he is innocent and she continues to stand by him no matter what.
Paschel has appealed his conviction and according to Varya, they are patiently waiting to hear something. It turns out that his first lawyer, Gregory Isaacs was not the lawyer who appealed for Paschel though. He is actually one of the best and highest-rated criminal defense attorneys in Knoxville, but he is no longer working for Paschel.
The appeal was actually filed by M. Jeffrey Whitt and Richard L. Gaines. It appears that Geoffrey has cut ties with his first attorney and wasn’t happy with the work that he was doing for him.
Varya isn’t quite sure when they will hear back about the appeal and there have been legal experts weighing in on it and they had said that Paschel may not hear anything back until at least 2023 and even then, there is no guarantee that it will be a speedy process.
As for now, it looks as if Paschel will be in prison until he is 62 years old if he serves the entire sentence. Varya’s fans have told her that they feel that she needs to move on and forget about him. No matter what happens, Varya just seems content with taking care of Geoffrey’s home and pets. She is also helping him out with the rental properties that he has as well.
We will continue to keep an eye on Geoffrey and Varya’s story to see if he is able to appeal and if she continues to stand by him.
