On 90 Day Fiancé, we were first introduced to Geoffrey Paschel and Varya Malina. The couple was dating long-distance and Geoffrey wanted to marry Varya. She was living in Russia and we saw him going to visit her to see if they really were meant to be. They got along pretty well, but there were still a lot of red flags in their relationship. One of these red flags was the fact that Geoffrey had quite the troubled past. In a court ruling on October 7, 2021, Geoffrey Paschel was found guilty on ALL counts. So what are these charges that the maligned 90 Day Fiance alum was facing? Let’s get you caught up to speed.
90 Day Fiancé: Geoffrey’s Past Catching Up
One of the things in Geoffrey’s past was the fact that he had some serious charges against him. One of his ex-girlfriends was quick to file charges against him and years later, he is going to trial and it is going to be televised. The charges against him are kidnapping, vandalism, interference with an emergency call, and domestic assault.
90 Day Fiancé: Geoffrey Paschel’s Trial
From the pictures of what happened to his ex, she was in pretty bad shape when she left his home. This is not the only time that Geoffrey has been in trouble with the law. When he was much younger, he was in prison for drug possession. This came up with Varya during their season on 90 Day Fiancé.
Now that the trial has concluded, Reddit users are popping up everywhere and sharing their thoughts about what is going to happen with this trial. One Reddit user said, “This is a very sad situation. He beat the s**t out of her and took her phone and keys so she couldn’t call for help. He’s a POS.”
Another wrote, “Guys, the lump on her forehead was insane. It was the size of an orange. He’s a total monster.” One more chimed in, “Isn’t this just great? Now he’ll get a spot on Love After Lockup.”
There are many 90 Day Fiancé fans who did grow fond of him and feel like he has been judged based on what one woman has claimed. There were multiple petitions from other fans of the show who wanted him off the show and some even started comparing his actions with Ed Brown and now, Steven Johnston.
Geoffrey’s trial is being shown on Court TV. In a verdict reached by the jury, Paschel was found guilty on all counts. He looked visibly shaken, likely as he wasn’t expecting the verdict at all. He also had the possibility to take a plea deal, which he refused, that could have reduced his sentencing. If you want to see more of Geoffrey and Mary, you can follow them on their Instagram accounts. Of course, it might be hard for Geoffrey to be posting many updates as he will be behind bars for the foreseeable future.
