’90 Day Bares All’ Spoilers finds that Cortney Reardanz from broke the host’s brain. Apparently Shaun Robinson has never heard of the term “mukbang” before. Cortney says that ever since quarantine started that she has been eating out of control – she rattled off the things that she can eat, an entire cake, an entire pizza, stuff that isn’t really big news to anyone who’s been watching say, Trisha Paytas for the last decade.

She says that there are people making $10k a month basically eating on camera and that there’s certain request, now, don’t get me wrong I like a good mukbang every now and again but I’ve never looked into it as a serious, sustainable income. However, the price of $10K kind of made my ears prick up.

’90 Day Bares All’ Spoilers: Paid Mukbangs?

So… who’s doing this and where are they raking in such dough? My first thought would be Onlyfans because until Bella Thorne broke it you could basically set any amount you wanted to charge. But no, there’s other sites as well.

There’s youtube, there’s instagram, possibly twitch though with the new guidelines I’m not sure that would even fly these days. There’s also facebook but you’d be at risk for being invaded by qanon Karens on that site, so you’d really have to watch who you broadcasted the livestream to.

This phenomenon originated in South Korea and most Koreans watch their favorite Mukbang artists on Afreecatv, around dinner time and they all watch their own favorite social eating show. Apparently some, across different platforms, have been reported as making $10K a month for their efforts but I think this is a phenomenon that only applies to famous youtubers.

(That being said, I’m not sure how it works on Afreecatv, I have no idea about their platform.) Also, unlike the South Korean phenomenon, this content only works in the US as supplemental content. You have to be a pretty big youtuber with pretty varied content for a mukbang to gain much traction with your audience, that being said, it’s usually the youtubers that don’t normally do it that get the most views. So… as a business model I wouldn’t say that it’s sustainable.

Although, maybe Cortney can do it so well that she could possibly make a career out of it. Although when asked, she told Shaun Robinson that so far, she hadn’t made a dime. Maybe it’s not time to quit your dayjob just yet, Cortney. Stay tuned!!!
