Princess Beatrice is devastated after the death of ex-boyfriend Paolo Liuzzo, who was found dead after a suspected overdose in a Miami hotel.
Beatrice Broke Up With Paolo When Authorities Charged Him With Manslaughter
The two began dating in July 2005 when Beatrice was only 17 and Paolo was 24. They connected through mutual friends and kept their relationship a secret for about a year but then parted ways.
The couple broke up in May 2006 when the police charged Liuzzo with manslaughter after involvement in a physical altercation that led to the death of a 19-year-old student from the College of the Holy Cross, Jonathan R. Duchatellier. They later downgraded the charge to assault.
Sources close to Liuzzo said that at the time of his death, he was struggling with gambling and drugs. He created a painful pattern for himself of gambling and incurring debt, not paying it off, and gambling all over again.
“He began using a lot of pharmaceutical drugs at first, but that later led to cocaine and harder drugs. It was a very fast lifestyle, and we all feared it would catch up with him eventually,”
They explained.
Liuzzo was also previously arrested for a bevy of offenses, including cocaine possession. He was also arrested in September 2009 after he crashed his Audi into traffic lights.
He walked away without paying the bill at Conrad Jupiter’s casino restaurant. Australian law enforcement charged Liuzzo with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine (again), and driving recklessly. He pleaded guilty and paid a fine.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson encouraged Beatrice’s relationship with Liuzzo. Beatrice and Luizzo’s relationship became public when they went on a family vacation with the Duke and Duchess of York to a Swiss ski resort.
Paolo’s Death Has Shaken Beatrice
By doing this, Luizzo violated his probation, and he was shipped back to the US to serve more time on probation in addition to the three years that the court-mandated.
Paolo also took Beatrice on a romantic trip to Paris. She had wanted to introduce him to Queen Elizabeth but never got the chance.
He later humiliated the royal family by allegedly bringing Beatrice and her sister, Eugenie, to a party where guests were smoking pot and taking magic mushrooms during a trip to Jamacia.
Sarah Ferguson was reportedly shocked and horrified that Paolo was using cocaine and was seen with other women, apparently stepping out on Beatrice.
The death of Paolo in February has shaken Beatrice. She has been dealing with a number of appearances while she is still in the midst of grief.
In February, she hosted a charity tea party for Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity at St. James Palace. In March, she appeared at an event for Student Mental Health Week.
Mental health is generally Kate Middleton’s territory. However, Beatrice was asked to attend the event in her place. She did an excellent job speaking on a panel about young people and their well-being and talking to the others in attendance.
Princess Beatrice is now happily married to a good guy property developer, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. They wed in July 2020 and have a beautiful young daughter named Sienna, born in September 2021.
