The last ten plus years have been pretty tumultuous for soap operas as those that survived and tried to find a new way to exist, like ‘One Life to Live’, was cancelled and left the once vastly populated genre down to four shows.
The four that remained have carved their own spots out as each have found a way to maintain their viewership, some amid various backstage scandals and issue.
With the news that ABC is standing firm behind ‘General Hospital’ for the foreseeable future, it’s given fans hope that the network may consider bringing back ‘One Life to Live’.
As the sister show to ‘General Hospital’, we’ve seen some brief crossovers and old favorite characters return in what felt like a backdoor pilot of the network testing the waters.
Could ABC finally be ready to revive the fan favorite show?
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – A glimpse of what could be
With Walt Willey reprising his role of Jackson Montgomery on ‘General Hospital’ to further the problems for Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and Deception while Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva) tried to get free of Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) eating up alimony money.
It was a cool moment that brought back a lot of memories, and for ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers it felt like an old fashioned back door pilot to gauge interest in getting the show relaunched.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much talk in bringing ‘One Life to Live’ back since the show’s streaming attempt in 2013.
But maybe that’ll change with ‘Days of Our Lives’ reported success on Peacock.
If they bring it back on the network, it’ll need some rearranging and for many of us ABC can’t wait to break into ‘GH’ for things as mild as thunderstorms, so they may try streaming.
Since Disney owns ABC and Hulu, ’General Hospital’ Spoilers expect they would stream it on Hulu alongside ‘General Hospital’.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – The fans are waiting
There’s plenty of possibilities for where they could start the show again, and they could add in some crossover characters from “General Hospital’ to help get things rolling, though that shouldn’t be needed.
Fans never wanted the show canceled either time and we’ve been waiting and hoping for it to return.
Maybe we’re right and there’s a producer working to bring it back and no one’s heard about it as yet.
It wouldn’t be the first time people worked feverishly behind the scenes to bring back a show, and it’d be a pretty cool surprised for 2024.
