‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Laura Wright, who plays Carly Spencer on the show, has been knocking it out of the park the past week as she learned of her mother, Bobbie Spencer‘s (Jackie Zeman) tragic death.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Wright’s Superb Acting Was Spot-On
Wright’s range of emotions has been nothing short of a master class. From denial to deep pain and grief to reluctant acceptance, Wright has showcased them all beautifully.
Today’s episode was no exception. Carly and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) visited Amsterdam to find Bobbie’s contact.
It turns out Bobbie was even more incredible than we knew before. She helped women out of human trafficking and out of the country.
Bobbie was helping a woman named Cornelia (Ellie Darcy Alden) when she passed. It doesn’t take long for Carly to realize that Cornelia is staying at Luke Spencer‘s (Tony Geary) old cabin in Canada.
Felicia and Carly were on the way to the cabin, and when they finally cleared the air, Carly finally addressed that big pink elephant in the room.
Why weren’t the two of them ever close? It didn’t take a genius to figure out what Felicia would say. When Carly first came to town, she ruined Bobbie’s life.
Of course, Carly was a different person back then (played by Sarah Brown). It would be hard to imagine Wright’s incarnation of Carly doing the same thing to Bobbie if she were to meet her today.
Wright and Zeman had an extraordinary relationship, and it shows through Wright’s acting because her emotions are genuine and heartfelt. You can tell the overwhelming emotions that Carly displayed are very real.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Tribute for Bobbie Spencer and Jackie Zeman Was Beautiful
When Carly and Felicia met Cornelia, Carly had to explain that Bobbie died. It was heart-rending when this woman realized she was safe and ran into Carly’s arms.
It was lovely of the show to incorporate this storyline into Bobbie’s send-off. Bobbie saving other women from human trafficking was fitting.
That’s something that only a true heroine like Bobbie or Carly would do. Carly made a point to say that Kelly’s was a “safe haven” for anyone who needs it. And when Elizabeth fixed the new sign for Kelly’s, it now said, “Bobbie’s.”
B.J. Jones, AKA Angela Brighton – (Brighton Hertford), being the reporter for the story, added a nice touch. Brighton’s character, turning out to be an angel, adds an appropriate spiritual element to the story.
Angela is the angel of B.J. Jones, Bobbie’s stepdaughter, who passed away thirty years ago and saved Maxi’s life through organ donation of her heart. B.J. was sent to help her Mother, Bobbie, make her way from this Earth to the other side.
Angela also helped Bobbie’s family and friends have closure by telling their stories about Bobbie and how she helped them.
Speaking of Brighton Hertford, she said that it was hard for her to keep her emotions in check during the memorial service.
She had a close bond with Zeman on the show when she was a child. It wouldn’t have made sense for the reporter, who didn’t know Bobbie personally, to be so broken up. Brighton had to suppress her emotions.
The tribute was sincere, not just for Barbara Jean, but for Jackie Zeman. All the actors showed up to convey their emotions about losing such a legacy character and a beautiful actress.
Long-time fans will understand and appreciate the significance behind the story’s message. The show did a lovely job expressing our emotions when we learned about Jackie Zeman’s passing.
