Britney Spears has uncovered in her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” that she had a secret abortion in 2000.
She and Justin Timberlake performed an at-home abortion when they found out she was pregnant.
Britney said that the decision to abort her baby was “one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
She explains that she was hysterically crying when she realized she would need the procedure at home, as it was the only way to keep it under wraps.
Britney Spears Said They Kept the Abortion a Secret
The pair elected not to go to a doctor or hospital to keep the abortion a secret from the public and their family.
Britney was about 19 years old at the time. She clearly remembers the pain and the fear she experienced and said that the medication she took to abort the baby caused her excruciating pain.
The medication used to have an abortion causes significant cramping and bleeding of your uterus, and it essentially causes a miscarriage.
Britney now says of the abortion,
“I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. I don’t know if it was the right decision. I never would have done it if it had been left up to me alone. And yet Justin was sure he didn’t want to be a father.”
Britney recounts the painful details of the story. She said it was important that no one knew about the pregnancy or abortion. The two of them gathered supplies and did everything at home. The abortion caused her great physical pain.
Britney explained that she lay on the bathroom floor, crying in agony, and Justin thought it would be an excellent idea to strum his guitar, trying to “comfort her” with music.
She said she was crying and sobbing until the procedure was complete. Britney can clearly recall how much it hurt.
Deeper Meaning in Song “Everytime”
Britney, who had expected to have a family with Justin later in life, claims that her family was very much against abortion and never would have approved. Britney and Justin went to great lengths to ensure no one would find out.
Sources close to Justin say that he had hoped it would have been kept secret forever, but he doesn’t want to speak out and get in the way of Britney speaking her truth and telling her story.
Justin made a name for himself, apart from N’Snync, with his 2002 song, “Cry Me a River.” The song suggested that Britney broke his heart. She received heavy backlash due to their breakup.
Britney’s fans have found more profound meaning to her 2003 song, “Everytime.” The music video features a mother who takes prescription pills and drowns herself to be with her baby.
In the video, Britney watches as a baby is being born. The song is thought to be about her abortion. One passionate Britney fan took to social media,
“I’m in tears for Britney. This poor woman loved nothing more than to be a mom. The world should be ashamed of what they put her through, especially Justin.”
Look for Britney’s memoir to come out on October 24th.
