One of the biggest questions ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers have is whether or not Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) has actually changed or is he still the evil individual that terrorized Port Charles?
We’re sure this is going to surprised a few, but we think he’s a different person, and there’s a reason for our thinking this.
While it’s easy to laugh at someone in prison for heinous crimes claiming they found God, it is a legitimate occurrence, though everyone takes it in a different way.
In Cyrus’ case, we think he legitimately changed and regrets what he did before and the life he led, but he’s still a street wise criminal at heart and old habits like that die hard.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: He seems genuine
Whether it was finding Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) unconscious in the shower, conveying his best wishes to Laura Collins (Genie Francis), or his apologies to Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), he seems legitimately sincere.
Of course, he pushes too hard when he pontificates so much. It’s hard for anyone to take, but especially those that feel he’s trying to con them into lowering their guard.
‘General Hospital’ doesn’t fault anyone for being unsure, especially now that he’s out and it’s through questionable means, though no one knows that yet.
But despite wanting to do good, that old part of him is still there, he’s just on another mission.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Out with the trash
We think Cyrus wants to do good, but the only way he knows how is by manipulation and force, hence the tactics he used to get out of Pentonville.
He’s also been jealous of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for being a respected businessman in Port Charles while his hands are just as dirty as Cyrus’, and that’s where things get a little twisted.
Cyrus is intent on bringing Sonny down because he’s hurting people, but Cyrus is also willing to hurt people to ensure he succeeds.
Granted, he ordered Ava Jerome (Maura West) to be let go, so he’s trying to avoid collateral damage as much as possible, but how long will that last?
It looks to us that while he’s changed, he’s become a twisted version of himself that feels he’s doing God’s work by rectifying any wrong Sonny is guilty of.
In the end, this will make him even more dangerous than before as he’ll be a zealot and feel he’s in the right, and in turn fight even harder to prevail and see evil vanquished.
What do you think Cyrus’ plan is? Did he change for the worse or the better? Let us know in the comments below and check back with ‘General Hospital’ for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
