Meghan Markle Is Getting Screwed By Netflix – No Residual Checks For The Duchess
The Duchess of Sussex is not getting any residual checks from her hit show Suits. In fact, no one from the cast and crew is getting much out of it at all.
According to The Decider, Ethan Drogin, who worked as a writer on Suits for nine long seasons, says he only got $250 in residual money. He said, “All together, NBCUniversal paid the six original Suits writers less than $3,000 last quarter to stream our 11 Season 1 episodes on two platforms.”
But Ethan isn’t the only one complaining about this. Lilla Zuckerman says that the pain is real as the money that comes in is usually in the form of pennies.
Lilla said, “It’s really hard to sort through all these checks, because you get dozens of them that are like $7 here, $30 there, and so forth. But that’s with Suits airing on two different major streaming platforms. It’s this blockbuster hit, and I received a grand total of $414 for it.”
She added, “You hope that maybe some magical check will arrive, but it does not appear.”
What’s really funny but not funny about all of this is before Meghan Markle met Prince Harry, she thought that he was stinking rich. But after they started dating, she was disappointed to find out that he wasn’t worth as much money as she had initailly hoped for.
And while Meghan did earn her own checks, it seems like she wasn’t really making that much on her end, either. At least not compared to some of her Hollywood counterparts.
So, is Netflix screwing Meghan Markle over? Maybe not entirely. But there are a lot of people tuning in to watch Suits. It’s gotten a lot of rave reviews so far.
Meghan Does’t Care Anymore About Her Past Life
It’s just too bad that the Duchess of Sussex isn’t saying any money in her pockets because of it.
But don’t expect Meghan Markle to say anything about this. She’s moved on. She’s not a television actress anymore. Really, she could care less.
Suits would never cover the costs of her Montecito lifestyle. That’s why she’s got Prince Harry now, their royal titles, and their Archwell business. She doesn’t have the time to count $250 checks in the mail.
