‘General Hospital’ (GH) Spoilers reveals that the situation of Willow Tait (Kate MacMullen) is important for examining the question, “How many chances should a person get?”
Willow’s experience also brings up other questions like “What does it mean to forgive someone? Does it mean that they have to be fully accepted back or can they be kept at a distance?”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Imperfect Parent
Willow was raised by Dawn of Day groupie, Lorraine “Harmony” Miller (Inga Cadranel). Willow did not have an easy childhood and her mother made a lot of mistakes. Some of the mistakes were quite devastating.
Willow was abused by the cult leader Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin). Her mother allowed this and did not protect her. While her mother made some terrible choices, she still loved her. She has been able to look past all of this and love the person her mother was.
Harmony died in a car crash and so all that Willow has now are memories. She can focus on the good and positive times with her mother. She can let the difficult times melt into the past and keep her mind on what was good.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers For June 7: Rough Relationship
Willow has since found out that her biological mother is Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Willow has had a long-standing feud with Nina. She considers Nina to be a despicable person.
Willow refuses to have any type of relationship with her because of their challenging and difficult past. She will not attempt to see things from her mother’s perspective.
Willow is battling leukemia and has had to have a bone marrow transplant. Since she has been in the hospital, Nina has been there day and night. She has been waiting on her, helping in any way she can and has not left.
Willow is surprised to hear about her mother’s actions, but she still isn’t convinced that her mother cares about her.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers For June 7: Future Relationship
Many GH fans believe that it is time for Willow to let the past go and give her mother a chance. Her mother hasn’t done anything as terrible as Harmony, but Willow just won’t let it go.
When Nurse Clara (Susan Diol) discusses Nina’s dedication to Willow in the hospital, she points out that Nina truly cares about Willow.
Clara also makes Willow think, by bringing up how Harmony died. If Nina died in that same manner, how would Willow feel? There are many things that Willow feels anger about, but Nina is her mother. She should work out how to build some kind of relationship with her.
Family relationships can be difficult. Sometimes family hurts each other and don’t act as they should. Forgiveness is most important for the person who has been hurt, so that they don’t carry the anger and pain.
Building a relationship with a person who has caused pain has to be done with caution. Setting boundaries is imperative but so is having an open mind.
