“I just found out Scotty @GeneralHospital was written out I thank u @GeneralHospital fans for decades of supporting me !!” is the tweet by Kin Shriner that sent shockwaves through the “General Hospital’s” fanbase.
While the news hasn’t been confirmed by any of the higher ups in the show, ABC, or even Disney, we’re unsure how to feel about it being true or not.
It would’ve surprise is in one way given Kin’s taken time off the show before, but the timing is odd given he publicly joined with fans calling out the show to give him more air time.
Since then he’s been in a fun relationship with Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and he’s also working with Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) to claim the Ice Princess or the fortune associated with it.

But all of those storylines have us scratching our head since his announcement he just learned Scotty was written off, and fans haven’t taken the news well.
Not the best time
The news came a week after Jackie Zeman passed away, and many fans are heartbroken over the news and they’ve responded various ways.
On the above link on Twitter, some users have expressed their gratitude to Kin for his years of enjoyment, while others are outright enraged and they’ve been tagging the show and producer to get their attention, and many longtime fans has said they’ll stop watching the show if he’s fired.
What in the world? You spent 46 years on this show & this is how they do you ? Wow it’s one thing if you were retiring but to just write you out of the show like that is not even justifiable to me. We love you @kinshriner hope to see in other projects , much love ❤️❤️🙌🏾.

@TiaMariePruitt8 it perfectly with:
“What in the world? You spent 46 years on this show & this is how they do you ? Wow it’s one thing if you were retiring but to just write you out of the show like that is not even justifiable to me. We love you @kinshriner hope to see in other projects , much love ❤️❤️🙌🏾.”
The issue here is many companies have shown little to no regard for what their fans want, whether it’s tv shows or movies, and Disney, ABC’s parent company, is among the worst in that regard.
This doesn’t mean fan outrage won’t tip the scales in Kin’s favor to keep him on the show, and there’s the possibility it’s either a misunderstanding or the storyline he heard about was incomplete.
It could also have to do with the current strike, though how exactly has us curious.
Most likely, it could be a cost cutting measure by the show to get rid of a large contract and give the younger actors a chance to shine, though no one can fill Kin’s shoes.
Will fan outrage make the difference? Let us know in the comments below.
