‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers indicates that things are getting worse in the Abbott mansion. As the tension continues, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman’s (Allison Lanier) may not survive.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Mother Tension
When Diane Jenkins (Susan Walter) returned to town, Kyle Abbott was shocked but also excited about an opportunity to get to know his mother. Sparks flew when she returned though, because Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) was not happy to see her.
Diane had framed Phyllis for her death. There is no love lost between these ladies and it was difficult for Kyle and Summer to manage their relationship with each other and with their warring mothers.
For her part, Diane returned humbly, trying to put her past behind her. Her enemies weren’t having it though, and Phyllis and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) were some of her most vocal opponents.
Summer began to think that her’ mother was being over critical of Diane, especially as she got to know Diane a bit better. She saw that her mother was holding onto the past too much and needed to let go of her obsession with Diane.
This point of view helped Summer and Kyle’s relationship because as a couple, they were gravitating more toward Diane.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Mother Mayhem
When Phyllis turned the tables on Diane and framed her for Phyllis’ murder, things began to unravel again. Now it is even worse. Summer blames Diane for Phyllis’ death and won’t hear of any other possibility. She is upset when Kyle suggests that Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) is probably responsible.
Summer is also furious when Kyle says that they are asking Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) to represent Diane. She doesn’t believe that Diane is defensible. Summer isn’t trying to understand the situation from Kyle’s point of view at all.
She is just absorbed by her own feelings of grief and guilt, and she won’t stop to consider him.
Kyle is really worried about her. She is isolating herself from him and he doesn’t know how to connect with her right now. What additional strain will she be under when she finds out that her mother is still alive?
What will that do to her relationship with Kyle? Are they headed toward a messy breakup?
