‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) Spoilers indicates that Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) emotional constipation, or inability to feel his true feelings, may spell doom for his relationships.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Stuffing the Feelings
Jack and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) had a long and complicated history with each other. Her death has been a shocking blow for everyone, but Jack had a strong connection with her.
Recently she has been at odds with him because she was so vocal about her hatred for his fiancé, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). While that has been their most recent dynamic, he needs to process their past. He needs to let himself grieve for who Phyllis was to him in the past. He needs to work through those feelings.
Jack does not seem to be giving himself the time and space to grieve Phyllis and what they meant to each other once very well. He needs to take the opportunity to do this and needs to open up to someone. If he doesn’t, this could be more painful to him and others later.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Focus on Diane
Jack also is hyper-focused on Diane. He knows that people are blaming her for what happened to Phyllis. He feels defensive all of the time, trying to fight for her.
Instead of dealing with his emotions and feelings, all of his energy is going into trying to protect Diane. While one could see this as positive for it is chivalrous and shows his devotion to her, it also could destroy him.
Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) sees this. She tries to get through to her brother, but he only sees this as yet another attack on Diane. She is concerned about him and doesn’t want to see anything bad happen to him. She seems to anticipate this if he does not deal with his own feelings.
