Megyn Kelly, a former Fox News anchor, criticized the network’s decision to oust Tucker Carlson and called it “a terrible move,” while Carlson’s replacement lauded his “great friend.” Carlson, 53, was reportedly shocked when CEO Suzanne Scott called him on Monday morning to inform him that he was being removed on air.
Kelly, who left the network in 2017 after 13 years, claimed it was a mistake to lose their most popular personality. Kelly said on her Sirius XM podcast “This is a terrible move by Fox, and it’s a great thing for Tucker Carlson.
I don’t know what drove Fox News to make this decision, and it was clearly Fox News’s decision because they’re not letting him say goodbye. That’s my supposition. That’s not inside knowledge.”
According to reports, Carlson was not informed of his termination. Some others thought that it was because of his involvement in the Dominion voting systems litigation, which Fox eventually settled for $787.5 million.
Private messages revealed by the lawsuit show Carlson ‘passionately’ despises Donald Trump, which caused awkwardness for the conservative network and the likely Republican presidential candidate.

Carlson also attacked Fox management in the communications, which, according to the Wall Street Journal, controlled by Rupert Murdoch, played a big part in his termination. Kelly asserted that she did not think Carlson’s termination was related to the Dominion issue.
She emphasized that he was less forthright in endorsing allegations of election tampering and declined to book Sidney Powell, Trump’s attorney and the most vociferous advocate of the Dominion conspiracy theory.
Some predict that Carlson may parlay his large fan base into a political base and seek for elected office. Kelly believed that was speculative.
She finished by saying, “A lot of people think he’s going to run for office. I don’t think so. I just don’t think so. Tucker’s got way more influence sitting behind a microphone than he does standing on a debate stage.
Tucker’s the only reason a lot of people still watch Fox News, with respect to my other colleagues there, I’m saying he’s their favorite.”
