A judge in Orange County, Florida has sentenced NFL star Zac Stacy to six months in jail and a year of probation for two distinct assaults on his ex-girlfriend. Despite originally claiming a video of one beating had been “staged,” the former NFL running back admitted to attacking Kristin Evans, the mother of his child, in mid-August 2021 after supposedly getting upset over rent.

Evans described how Stacy repeatedly assaulted her bodily by slapping her, punching her in the legs, picking her up by the arms, and throwing her into a broken window. She supplied pictures of her wounds, which displayed body bruising and cuts.

Incredibly graphic home security video captured Stacy punching Evans in the head, hitting her, and then throwing her against a television in November 2021 while their infant boy watched and she begged him to stop. According to Stacy he was “provoked” into attacking her because she needed to give him money.

After negotiating plea agreements with the prosecution, Stacy admitted to one count of misdemeanor domestic violence battery and two cases of misdemeanor criminal mischief. His plea deal resulted in the dismissal of the battery counts, according to WESH. When Stacy, a 2013 Rams selection pick, will start serving his prison term is unknown. Stacy allegedly told Orlando Police Department officers that Evans staged the attack because he had rejected her sexually in an arrest video.

“It’s just a case of bitterness. man,” he told the police in the video. “That’s why she did this – the whole assault thing, she staged it. She set me up. The whole thing was staged. All she’s trying to do is get money out of me. She got a reaction out of me.”

What do you think? Does 6 months feel long enough or should the sentence have been more extreme? Let us know in the comments below.
