Pink made it known that Madonna had asked her to be part of the iconic smooch she shared with Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears at the 2003 MTV Video Movie Awards.
Fans Slam Madonna After Pink Reveals She Wanted To Kiss Her At The MTV Awards-‘Revolting’
At the awards ceremony, Madonna kissed Spears and then Aguilera while performing “Hollywood”, resulting in a huge shock from the people in attendance. Pink stated that she and her current partner Carey Hart were in Costa Rica at the time, but she did not mention if she would have consented to the kiss if she had been in LA.
In her comments, Pink said: “I think we all were [invited]. I think Madonna wanted to kiss all of us. It was a bunch of us. It was going to be a party. It would’ve been a really weird party.”
After a period of one month, Pink reported that Jennifer Lopez disclosed that she had been asked to participate in the kiss. Lopez mentioned that Christina Aguilera had been provided with the opportunity to perform instead.
This just goes to state that Madonna had been planning this for a whole, rather than it being something that she decided to do off the cuff. And it also goes on to show that Madonna’s tendency to push the boundaries of what is acceptable had been there for a long time.
Jennifer’s following comments confirmed as much: “I was filming a movie in Canada, and we had met…me, her and Britney…to do it at her home, and then I just couldn’t get off the film…so, we couldn’t do it.” The response on social media was one of outrage.
Large numbers of people began to slam Madonna on the grounds that she was looking to do anything in order to garner attention given the number of people she had approached to do this.
One person wrote: “My new poem. Why would you ever wanna. Kiss someone as revolting as Madonna. Even if you are as dumb, as Britney Spears. And haven’t kissed anyone in 10 years?”
