Prince Harry was convinced at one time that Princess Diana, Princess of Wales, had faked her own death in the Paris tunnel car crash in order to break free from her troubled life.
Prince Harry Was Convinced That Diana Faked Her Own Death To Escape Her ‘Miserable’ Life
In his recent biographical book, Spare, the Duke of Sussex further explains that he even wanted to launch an investigation into the accident. When he was 13, the news that his mum had been killed in a car crash made him question whether the incident could have been a ruse on the part of his mum.
In his book, Harry wrote: “Her life’s been miserable, she’s been hounded, harassed, lied about, lied to. So she’s staged an accident as a diversion and run away.”
He and his brother, Prince William, were both dissatisfied with the results of the Operation Paget inquiry and were apparently dissuaded from demanding a fresh investigation by the authorities.
Even though he was informed of what had taken place, he remembered convincing himself that his mother was merely concealing herself and not genuinely dead – a concept he shared later in the book that he often resorted to for his own solace.
In addition, he remembered how he and William were not allowed to view the television so they could be protected from reports of Diana’s passing. An extensive investigation that lasted for two years resulted in a verdict that Diana and Dodi Fayed had been unlawfully killed through the gross negligence of both the intoxicated driver Henri Paul and the photographers pursuing them.
The fans on social media were sympathetic towards Harry. This was on the basis that his mother’s death had greatly impacted him at such a young age. One person wrote: “This is terribly sad. To think he was a young boy without emotional support whilst getting over the loss of a parent is heartbreaking.”
