Irina Shayk is publicly backing Kyle Jenner’s lion head dress in response to the criticism that she received after wearing the dress on Monday, 25th January 2023.

The 25-year-old TV celebrity generated a huge online buzz when she donned the black velvet, strapless dress that was adorned with a huge embroidered lion head attached to the neckline for the Schiaparelli Spring 2023 show in Paris.

Shayk, aged 37, presented a virtually identical gown during the same presentation, as shown in the images here. In Shayk’s post, there were a collection of photographs that showed her wearing the dress on the runway, during the fitting session, and backstage. In addition, a sketch of the design was included.

The post was captioned by the following comments: “I support these incredible artists who worked tirelessly, with their hands, using wool, silk, and foam, to sculpt this embroidered Lion, and image of Pride, An image that @schiaparelli invokes while exploring themes of strength.”

Despite this being the case, there were certain controversial points. First of all, it came across as though animals may have been hurt in order to generate this look. And yet, the brand behind the dress made it clear in no uncertain terms that nothing could have been further from the truth.

The following comments confirmed as much: “NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED IN MAKING THIS LOOK.” Nevertheless, the fans on social media were not convinced. This was on the basis that the design may encourage the hunting of animals in order to achieve a similar look, thus putting those animals at risk of danger.

One person wrote: “The only thing this is glorifying is the killing of these animals, even if this is fake. The lion, cheetah and the wolf seem like they are literally meant to look as if they were killed and used for clothing.”
