Selena Gomez is disclosing more and more about her battles with bipolar disorder. She says she had suicidal thoughts and sought therapy at four different facilities. She says, “I think when I started hitting my early twenties is when it started to get really dark, when I started to feel like I was not in control of what I was feeling, whether that was really great or really bad.”
Selena also talks about experiencing severe highs and lows for weeks or months prior to being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the Rolling Stone interview. She would occasionally experience mania symptoms, such as the impulse to buy cars for everyone in her life so she could share her “gift,” but she would soon sink into a severe melancholy and be unable to get out of bed.
