British Royal News says Queen Elizabeth‘s corgis are doing just fine after the British Monarch’s death, thank you very much. Following her death on September 8th, it was announced that the queen’s two corgis, Muick and Sandy, would be adopted and live with Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson. Here’s what you need to know.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Fergie, as she is affectionately known, shared an update on the pet pooches. The Duchess of York said it was a “big honour” to have taken in the late monarch’s dogs, which she called “national treasures” and said they had “been taught well.”

At their new home, Royal Lodge near Windsor Castle, Muick and Sandy have inherited furry siblings – the former couple’s five Norfolk terriers – which Fergie says has worked out well. “They all balance out,” she told the publication. “The carpet moves as I move, but I’ve got used to it now.”
The public raised concern for the dogs after footage was broadcast of them being brought out to await the arrival of the queen’s coffin at Windsor, her final resting place, following a state funeral.
Two days before the queen’s funeral, Prince William, now second-in-line to the British throne, told a worried fan waiting in line to view his grandmother’s coffin lying in state at Westminster Palace in London that he had recently seen Muick and Sandy and that the dogs were “going to be looked after fine.”
The Prince of Wales added, “They are two very friendly corgis, so they’ve got a good home. They’ll be looked after very well, spoilt rotten, I’m sure.”
According to reports, pups Muick and Sandy were allowed to wait for the arrival of the Queen’s coffin at Windsor for the Committal Service. The Queen’s love of her dogs was well known to all, they even appeared alongside her and James Bond actor Daniel Craig in a short film made for the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. The corgis were used to break the ice with a plethora of foreign dignitaries the Queen entertained during her 70-year reign. Until the end they provided the Queen companionship and loyalty, helping entertain her while Prince Philip was in hospital.
