Singer Michael Benjamin, otherwise known as “Mikaben,” has reportedly died after collapsing amid his show.

According to reports, the star happened to be performing in Paris, France. And as part of that process, he was alongside his band CaRiMi. That is when Benjamin would end up passing away at the age of just 41. And as the news quickly spread, the worst was confirmed by Haiti’s Prime Minister:
Ariel Henry. In an official statement, Ariel stated the following: “I am devastated by the news of the sudden death of the young and very talented artist Michael Benjamin ‘Mikaben’. It is a great reference of Haitian music which has just passed away.”
As a result, one of the country’s most popular musicians came out to express his shock at the news. Step forward: Wyclef Jean. The former’s reputation exploded when he featured on the hit track ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ with none other than Shakira. The song ended up reaching number one across various charts in the United States.
Not only that, but the song also happened to go number one in over 50 countries. With that being said, Wyclef was well qualified to judge some of the best talents around. And in doing so, he lamented the loss of one of the country’s best stars.
His following comments confirmed as much: “This is a shock. All I could remember was his smile. This is one of the most influential and inspirational young artists of our generation.”
The fans on social media were dejected by the news. A significant proportion of the fan base felt that Michael passed away long before his time, with so much to give. One person wrote: “He was one of [the’ best Haitian star, we ever know, our Mika, our Mika, why.”
