Kanye, for his part, generated a lot of controversy following his decision to wear a ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirt. This was then followed up by other comments in which he declared the Black Lives Matter Movement a ‘scam.’
His conduct earned him the scorn of other people in the fashion industry, including Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber. This was also followed up by a public exchange between P Diddy and Kanye, as the latter made it clear in no uncertain terms that he was going to press ahead with his plans to sell the White Lives Matter apparel.
With that being said, Meek responded to let Kanye know that he was only harming his own supporters. In a post to his fans on Instagram, Meek said: “I used to listen to ye every night [in] jail for motivation on god!
“And came home and watched him sh— on my name and brand like nothing…I ain’t say nothing…but what you be doing for fame driving you crazy…I’m vocal it’s like you hate your own people.”
And Kanye’s comments only got more contentious. He expanded on how his friendship with former president of the United States Barack Obama faded, despite the initial optimism surrounding his presidential run.
Kanye was allegedly Obama’s favourite artist, but this had apparently taken a turn, as Kanye noticed a change in perception when he became more outspoken, something that perhaps did not sit very well.
In some prior comments with Tucker Carlson, Kanye stated: “As soon as I wasn’t saying the things that I was supposed to say as a rapper, our connection faded.”
