In this season of 90 Day Fiancé, we are learning just how these couples have started to gaslight one another. What is gaslighting? According to Psycom, “Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which one person makes another person doubt his or her perceptions, experiences, memories, or understanding of events that happened.”
Generally, men are more likely to gaslight women because of the fact that “many women are socialized to doubt themselves and continually apologize for disagreeing or upsetting their partners.” With Shaaeda Sween and Bilal Hazziez, we have started to see the signs of gaslighting coming from him, but it doesn’t stop there. Shaaeda is doing some gaslighting of her own.

In the last episode of the show, we saw Bilal lose his temper over the fact that Shaaeda was trying to joke with him. It all started when they were on their way to meet his extended family and he told her that she needed to get a booger out of her nose.

She went on to tell him that she knew she didn’t have a booger in her nose and that she was tired of his jokes. She popped him on the back of the head and the tone he took with her was harsh and rude.
Bilal told Shaaeda that she needed to get her hands off of him or he would pull the car over. She continued to be all touchy and popped him on the head, yet again. He ended up pulling the car over and told her that she would be taking an Uber the rest of the way. Of course, viewers were really thrown off by this and have called him a narcissist because of how he is treating her.
With the backlash he is getting, Shaaeda thought it was time to do some gaslighting of her own. She took to Instagram to share her feelings on what fans of the show were saying about her and Bilal.
She wrote to her followers, “Perception is reality and we’ve been conditioned to perceive a Black man as illiterate, dead beat, scared and struggling- once he isn’t that, then YES he is a NARCISSIST, CONTROLLING, the WORST ever, let’s destroy him, emasculate him, to remind him of what he has to be!”
Of course, Redditers wanted to share their opinions about Shaaeda and how she has started doing some gaslighting of her own and to her fans.
It is clear that these two are in this relationship because of their similarities and it looks as if gaslighting is just one of them.
