Since Kim is MIA, Barry Plath was the one who said that he sat the kids down privately and told them of his and Kim’s separation. We’re glad that he sat them down off-camera and explained to them what was going on, even if he didn’t have all the answers.
The kids needed a private space where they could get all of their emotions out, even though Isaac said that he had seen this coming for awhile, and no doubt the younger children have too, its clear to see that the younger Plaths aren’t oblivious by any stretch of the imagination. Lydia says that she hasn’t talked to Kim yet, which is a little surprising considering how close they seemed last year, but a lot can change in a year.
Barry Plath talks to the kids
This is the first time we’ve seen an emotional Barry Plath since he talked about Ethan last year. When he talked to the kids he was pretty frank about things, even if he didn’t answer all of their questions. Probably some questions would be better to be answered with Kim actually present, and that may be what he’s waiting on.
Still, he seems pretty torn up that his marriage seems to be in shambles, but are these tears real or are they crocodile tears? Lydia says that this is the first time she’s seen her Dad cry since Joshua’s funeral a decade ago, so that’s something in the reality department, maybe things will start turning around for the Plaths.
For a guy who prided himself on never buying coke for his children, it seems a little odd that he would have four delivery pizzas for his family instead of having them make dinner, but it also speaks to Barry’s willingness to embrace a newer, perhaps more modern way of being and maybe he’s willing to give just a little to save his marriage… maybe.
But we’ll just have to see, for now, we’re glad that he seems to have stepped up and actually parented the younger kids and let Kim have a much needed break. It seems Kim and Barry make a much better team apart than they do together… but we’ll see. Stay tuned!!!
