Trisha Paytas discusses inclusivity with hubby Moses Hacmon

For the longest time, Trisha Paytas has been saying the quiet part out loud, and her latest mukbang with hubby Moses Hacmon was no different. Today she was discussing Jesus (interesting topic, considering Moses himself is a Jew) and Trisha point-blank asked why a lot of actors who played Jesus were hispanic now.

See, if Trisha had just been by herself making this video one could see where a statement like that would get her into real cancellable territory real quick (she even joked about it), but fortunately, she had Moses with her to temper a ramble that could have gone really south really quickly.

Moses took the time to educate Trisha and basically tell her that back then, Jesus would have looked a certain way and had dark hair and dark eyes and that back in the day when Hollywood promoted a more caucasian portrayal of Jesus that it was when hiring practices weren’t so diverse as they are now.

Some of us in Trisha’s audience breathed a sigh of relief at this exchange because it turned into an opportunity for education rather than one for drama. Moses pointed out that the hiring practices were not inclusive back then, Trisha said that she felt like the 90’s were inclusive, but Moses countered, “Not enough.”

    Indeed.

They went onto discuss fat-shaming in media, and Trisha said that she wished that media wouldn’t do it to kids and proceeded to discuss how in Desperate Housewives they made a lot of fat-shaming jokes about Gabrielle’s little girl, Juanita.

Trisha expressed some surprising opinions, like now she thinks that only disabled actors should play disabled characters and that if a specific race is listed that only that race actor should play said character but Moses (who is apparently an actor as well but so far has just played Jesus in one production) said that “there’s a craft to it” and his opinions weren’t quite as staunch as Trisha’s.

Now Trisha has extended her opinion to trans actors and said that she thinks that only trans actors should play trans people which is an opinion that is definitely headed in the right direction but it would seem that this practice is relatively new to Hollywood hiring practices and has just started becoming a thing in the last couple of years.

She almost tripped herself up by offering to play Gabi Solis’ daughter in a Desperate Housewives reboot but then correcting herself by saying she had just said she didn’t think that white people should be potraying other races… wow, at least she recognized it! It seems that being pregnant has given her more braincells to work with! Stay tuned!!!
