Kyrie Irving Pictured Giving A Homeless Man $200
This arrives on the back end of the basketball star having made some rather distasteful gestures at a game versus the Boston Celtics. While he did reportedly pay a $50,000 fine, that did not stop the criticism coming his way, despite him clarifying his comments.
In his comments at the time, he stated: “When people start yelling ‘p—y’ or ‘b—ch’ and ‘f–k you’ and all this stuff, there’s only but so much you take.” As a result, Kyrie realised that he needed to clean up his act. It is claimed that he had given $200 to a homeless man.
Clearly, that is a noble act in and of itself. Thus, it should not be used as an attempt to provide some positive press to Kyrie. And yet, there is a feeling that this might be the case for the following reasons. First of all, the timing of it could not have been better.
He had received mass condemnation on social media prior to this incident. Secondly, who knows how this incident was leaked to the press in the first place. Nevertheless, without any evidence to the contrary, we can give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, this is not the first time that Kyrie has done such a thing.
In 2018, he was pictured handing out money to a homeless man in Texas. This time, the figure was alleged to be $240. In a statement at the time, Kyrie remarked: “I just had to bless that man. I’m really afforded a lot in this life, that I play the game, the game that I love. I just love giving back.
“I told you my object is to heal the world.” Kyrie ultimately will be judged by his actions. And if he does more things along these lines, then that will stand him in good stead. So there you have it folks. What did you think about all of this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
