In a recent interview with Variety, Kim Kardashian was quoted saying that her best advice to working women was to “get your f*cking ass up and work, no one wants to work these days” which she is now saying was taken out of context.
But the thing is, what she actually clarified didn’t exactly make the statement sound any better on her part, so there’s really no defending herself. She said that the quote was actually in response to a previous statement about the Kardashians just “being famous for being famous” and not actually working for what they have.
Kim Kardashian now saying her words were taken out of context
However, the article clearly stated that after what Kim had said, so Kim’s hauling off and saying the “Get your @$$ up and work, nobody wants to work these days” was not actually in response to that statement but rather she had stated it before that was even mentioned.
She said that what she meant by that is that even though she has a reality show and is a TV star it’s not easy and people expect to imitate her success all the time without putting in the work for it. Okay, but there is a million other ways she could have phrased that statement that could have conveyed that a whole lot better than she actually did.
Variety did not appreciate being dragged and saying that they misconstrued Kim’s words, so they went and pulled the receipts, Kate Arthur, one of the editors for Variety tweeted, “Every outlet going with Kim Kardashian saying that her comments were ‘taken out of context’ please do refer to the video for @EWagmeister’s story, which provides the context to the question which was, “What’s your best advice for women in business?” she went onto say, “It’s like when Chloe Sevigny trashed that season of “Big Love” and then said her comments were taken out of context – it was a long Q&A.” then, “Like… it’s clearly in context. She might have been more heated than normal if that preceding question was what she claims, but.., that’s not the same thing.”
Elizabeth Wagmeister, the person responsible for the article tweeted out as well, “It’s not what she claims. I just reviewed the raw footage. The question was very direct. “What would be your advice for women in business?” the question for being famous for being famous came after after that question, actually.” yeah there was just no saving herself from those comments, no matter how hard she tried.
It’s one thing to try and say that maybe you didn’t mean the comments the way they sounded, it’s another thing to try and throw someone else under the bus because of it and it looks like that is exactly what Kim tried to do. The editors at Variety aren’t going to take that lying down. We’ll see if they ever end up working together ever again. Stay tuned!!!
