This is hardly a surprise given that the rapper was very vocal about wanting to get back together with Kim. But when it transpired that this was not going to be a possibility, the rapper did not take it too well.
While this could have threatened to disrupt the lives of their children, Kim was able to work things out. The pair decided to bury the hatchet, which then resulted in Kim and the family attending his ‘Donda’ show in Atlanta.
And yet, at one point, it was a tough period indeed. In an interview on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, Kim said: “We went off and on, and we went about eight months without even speaking to each other at the beginning of the divorce.
“Him and I just took a minute of not talking.” Nevertheless, seeing a couple go through a traumatic divorce is not something that Kim is alien to. She had managed to witness this first-hand during the course of the break-up involving her mother Kris Jenner with her father Robert Kardashian.
And given that their relationship ultimately broke down, Kim understood the hurdles that she needed to navigate in order to avoid this spilling over into something much more harmful.
Despite the negativity that has ensued with Kanye bashing her publicly, alongside her new lover Pete Davidson, Kim had nothing but respect for the rapper. After all, she simply wants him to be there for their children.
She added: “We’re always family. We’re always gonna have so much love, and we love our kids, and we both love the time we spent together. I think that we’ll always have that and always cherish that, and sometimes it just doesn’t work out for whatever reasons.”
