Louie Simmons was a powerlifter and strength coach who has active for more than 50 years. However, Simmons passed away at the age of 74 which has been a huge blow to the fitness industry and anyone who knew him, including Joe Rogan who had him on the podcast.
Rogan put out his own statement regarding Simmons telling him to rest in peace and that he was a “strength training genius”. Rogan posted a photo of the two together with the following caption,
“Rest In Peace, Louie Simmons.
You were a strength training genius, and a genuine bad motherfucker who lived life on his own terms. It was an honor to meet you and have you on the podcast. You will be greatly missed.
Westside against the world.”

Joe Rogan Posts Tribute To Powerlifter Louie Simmons After His Death
Simmons had been a powerlifter since his 20s and was a very influential coach during his 50-year career. The Westside Conjugate System was described by the man himself as a combination of the Soviet system where several exercises were completed to advance the training of athletes, mixed with the Bulgarian system where you nearly maxed out in every workout.
He also developed equipment and helped train dozens of athletes.
The @westsidebarbellofficial Instagram account wrote about his death saying, “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Louise Simmons. We will make a formal announcement after we process this loss.”
Rest in peace Louie and congratulations on the successful life you lived.
