The Masked Singer spoilers reveal a new season has begun! This time around, though, they made a couple of changes to the competition. And let’s just say, this premiere was, well… interesting. Let’s talk about what happened, and we’ll share who we think won the night.

The Masked Singer spoilers: The format

First off, The Masked Singer spoilers indicate there were a couple of changes this season. One being that the competitors are split into three teams: The Good, The Bad, and The Cuddly. And yes, they went full-on cheese with the opening and played on The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. There were representatives from each team in the premiere, and the clue packages were a bit different as well.

This season, they have “Good TV”, “Bad TV”, and “Cuddly TV”. So, each clue package is done in the form of a tv commercial. We really aren’t sure what we think of that change just yet, but there are some great costumes this season. We found Ram to be the most impressive during the preview special. However, we also love Firefly’s costume, as well as Ringmaster. We got to see two of these contestants in the premiere.

The Masked Singer spoilers: The mess

So, we’ve only been watching one season. Well, that and occasionally catches performances from favorites after they’re unmasked on YouTube. In that time, we have never seen a night go as wrong as this one did. First of all, McTerrier was doing pretty good. We loved his version of “Working for the Weekend” by Loverboy. However, when he was getting ready to talk to the panel, he stumbled a bit and lost the head of the costume. This led to McTerrier freaking out and asking what to do. Supposedly, he managed to cover himself so his identity remained safe, but we aren’t sure we buy the editing. We’ll tell you why in a minute.

Then we had Firefly. Only a couple of lines into her performance, she randomly started choking. The panel freaked out and called for a medic to help, so she was helped off the stage and another performer came out to sing. Later on, all was well and she got her chance to perform in full.

The Masked Singer spoilers: Who we loved

So, we mentioned that Firefly had a mishap. The Masked Singer spoilers, however, prove that it didn’t hold her back. Her version of Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody” was the highlight of the night. So, between the talent level and the sympathy factor, we expect this performer to go. We also found Thingamabob’s performance of Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive” to be another highlight. It also really pains us as Bon Jovi fans from way back to say he sang it better than Jon Bon Jovi likely could today. Sorry, but we do think his voice has suffered over the years.

Remember when we said we suspected something was off about the editing with McTerrier? Well, he was better than some of the performers that lived to sing another day. So, we can’t help wondering if that mask mishap was worse than it appeared, meaning the contestant’s identity was revealed to the audience and they decided he had to go. With someone experiencing a situation like that, we’d expect them to get to the next step of the competition of the sympathy factor alone. But given how great his performance is, we’re really shocked that he would get voted off.

So, who was McTerrier? Duff Goldman, cookbook author, chef, and TV personality. We’re actually sorry to see him go, but excited to see the rest of the contestants perform.
