Comedian Bill Murray Criticised Over His Comments About The Pandemic-‘The Pandemic Didn’t Effect People Like Him’

The Covid-19 crisis has crippled the globe on an economic and health basis. The increasing number of people being hospitalised, as well as losing their jobs, has not been stopped by the vaccination programme which has not resulted in restrictions being removed for good.

But the increasing fear that the pandemic has resulted amongst the people is something that Bill could not get his head around. Rather than enjoying the moment and living life to the full, he felt that there was an increasing paranoia.

In an interview, he said: “We just went out with our friend to walk the dog, and you’re wearing a mask, everyone’s wearing a mask. The dog is the only one who’s completely alive!”

While Bill does have a point, the reality is that his comments highlight the topical issues surrounding masks. A certain subset of people choose to wear a mask on the basis that they believe they are protecting others.

Meanwhile, others dispute the science or feel that freedom of choice should be respected. Although Bill did not mention which side of the fence he stands on, his comments demonstrate that he is not worried by what could happen.

He added: “The rest of us are afraid to die, and afraid to kill, so we’re masked up and we’re injected, and so forth. It’s the most challenging time of this life cycle for us.” The response on social media was not very kind towards Bill.

A certain subset of people felt that his comments were disrespecting all those that had suffered in the pandemic. Not only that, but his words mocked all those who decided to follow the restrictions to the letter.

One person wrote: “The pandemic didn’t effect people like him or any other celebrity maybe the Mexican slave trade slow down during the pandemic.” Unless society returns back to normal with the scrapping of mask mandates and vaccinations, then Bill’s words will only resonate with more people.
