Bella Hadid has followed in the footsteps of her sister, Gigi Hadid, by revealing that she will donate her earnings from Fashion Week to help the people of Ukraine.

Bella, just like her sister, understands the reality of seeing a country go through very difficult times. They are of Palestinian heritage, which has seen the country being involved in a conflict with the State of Israel for many years.
Therefore, in order to give back in some way, Bella felt this was the least she could do, knowing that she has friends connected to the country. In a post to her fans on Instagram, Bella shared a picture of herself wearing a top in the form of a Ukrainian flag.
The post was captioned by the following comments: “I will be donating all of my earnings from this Fashion Week directly to organizations that are providing help, refuge and medical aide to those in need on the ground in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support our Palestinian people and land.”
While this is a noble cause indeed, Bella does risk receiving backlash like Gigi. The latter had been bashed for making the comparison between Palestine and Ukraine.
A certain subset of people felt that the analogy did not stand up to scrutiny, and yet, it is important to remember Bella’s view that human rights should be respected across the board, wherever they may be.
She added: “Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion. At the end of the day, innocent lives pay for war- not leaders.”
It is great to see Bella going out of her way to make a difference. This may encourage other models to do the same. And at a time where Ukraine is suffering, any support from the outside, however small that may be, is going to be welcomed. And that is the most important thing to remember going forward.
