Award-winning author Stephen King has uncharacteristically shared a social media picture of himself in order to show support for Ukraine during their war with Russia.
Author Stephen King Calls Putin ‘Stupid’ As He Declares His Support For Ukraine
The author, who is one of the most successful horror writers in the world, decided to use his public platform of over 6 million Twitter followers to get his point across. And in the process of doing so, he did not hide the fact that he was totally against the Russian aggression that was carried out on a sovereign nation.
In a post to his followers on Twitter, Stephen shared a picture of himself wearing a t-shirt with a fist punched in the air, with the Ukrainian flag’s colors. It was accompanied with the words ‘I stand with Ukraine.’
The post was captioned by the following comments: “I don’t usually post pictures of myself, but today is an exception.” However, this social media post did not come out of the blue. In the days running up to the post, the author made it very clear that he was not exactly a fan of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
After all, the latter had attacked a sovereign country on a unilateral basis. Much like the rest of the world, which had gone on to condemn the Russian President, Stephen did the same in the most eloquent of ways.
In a previous post, he stated: “For the first time in a long and infamous career, Putin looks stupid. It must come as a shock to him.” Stephen’s fans on social media were in full agreement with what he had to say.
People were of the view that the Russian President did not expect the world community to rally behind Ukraine, which ultimately took him by surprise. One person wrote: “He COMPLETELY underestimated the will of the Ukrainian people and the immediacy with which the rest of the world would respond.”
A lot of people will resonate with what Stephen has said, and if other high profile people use their public platform in a similar manner, then that can only be a good thing. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this?
