It seems like there is someone out there somewhere that is working really hard in trying to get Joe Rogan canceled, but they might have to work just a little bit harder in order for that to ever happen. There’s a new report that says Joe has been forced to apologize for repeatedly using the N-word during his popular podcast.
This comes after some artists have threatened to pull their music from the online streaming giant Spotify if they continued to allow the podcaster to “spread misinformation” about COVID-19 and vaccinations on his show. Here’s what you need to know.
Joe Rogan Just Keeps Stirring In You-Know-What After N-Word Controversy
A compilation video has surfaced of the 54-year-old comedian using the offensive term during early episodes of The Joe Rogan Podcast– one of the most popular podcasts in the world with an estimated audience of 11 million.
But during a six-minute video posted to his Instagram page on Saturday, Rogan offered his “sincere and humble apologies”, saying it was the “most regretful and shameful thing” he has ever had to publicly talk about.
He said in some of the clips in the compilation he is quoting other people or referring to the title of a Richard Pryor comedy album, and in another instance he is discussing how it is “an unusual word.”
“Now I know that to most people there’s no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that word, never mind publicly on a podcast, and I agree with that,” the comedian said.
Meanwhile, Spotify has decided to side with Rogan after Neil Young accused him of spreading COVID-19 misinformation. As a result, Neil Young has decided to pull his music from the online streaming giant. Spotify confirmed Young’s actions in a statement to the press, saying that the company “regret[s] Neil’s decision to remove his music” from the streaming service:
“We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users. With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators. We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to COVID since the start of the pandemic. We regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify, but hope to welcome him back soon.”
The Joe Rogan Experience – reportedly downloaded almost 200 million times a month – is Spotify’s most popular, with its host having attracted criticism for his views on Covid, including a suggestion that young and healthy should not get jabbed.
The streaming company has now confirmed it has removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to Covid misinformation since the start of the pandemic and hoped to welcome Young back soon.
